Product Review: Capella Online University

About the company: The value of a Capella University education can be measured in many ways — from professional benefits like increased earning power to greater marketability in the workforce. Your education is an investment and one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Enrollment counselors at Capella will discuss your estimated total costs and provide options for financing and reducing tuition costs through transfer credit and reimbursement programs.
The Big Pitch: Nearly 70 percent of our learners receive some form of financial aid to support their education investment.
The world of online education is one frought with traps and scams. There are literally hundreds of 'degree mills' out there that will give you a meaningless diploma or certificate for $500, but when you're going for a new job and the human resources department checks your credentials, a degree from university4free.org won't exactly hold up next to college papers from Harvard, Princeton and Stanford.

Admittedly, Capella University isn't an Ivy League school, but if you're seeking a quality online education in the areas of education, human services, psychology, business and technology or undergraduate studies, you could do a lot worse than join the 13,000 people that Capella boasts are learning with them online.

Capella offers Bachelor's Degrees, MBA, Masters Programs, PhD and PsyD's, and certificates in Business, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Health Care Administration, Higher Education, Human Resources & Training, Human Services, Information Technology (IT), Instructional Design for Online Learning, K-12 Education, Non-Profit Management, Project Management, Psychology, and Social and Community Services.

They also claim that almost 70% of their students receive financial aid, and that transfer credits, veterans benefits, US Armed Forces discounts, employer reimbursements and corporate alliances are available.

Not sure that you qualify? Capella's advisors will talk you through it. Not sure you have time for the courses? Take a free sample course with no commitment and no cost to see if you're ready for the online learning schedule.

All in all, though you would want to look through Capella's literature pretty hard before signing up to a full degree program, we think it is well worth going to the Capella site and filling in their request form for a free school guide book to be sent out to you.

Again, there's no comittment, but if you've ever wondered if you could benefit from finishing a degree, or using your previous experience towards a new degree, take a look at what Capella offers and you could well find that you can earn a degree in your spare time - without ever leaving the home.

The Product Trends rating: We give Capella a solid four star rating for offering something for nothing, and allowing potential students to try before they buy. If only every college worked the same way...
